In this particular write-up, I am going to state how or where the Bible can be acquired or purchased as well as the different types,  their features and the different translations.

 

How or where can we obtain it?

 

The Big Book of Wisdom can be obtained through different ways.  Some can be gotten freely whereas most are purchased through dealers.

Previously Christian Books were sold by special body like the CSS Bookshop which was established in 1869 as Christian Missionary Society (CMS).  This body has continued to evolved with the emerging technologies and have added online services to its stores.

 

Others bodies abroad  or individuals  have also carried out these services among whom is the Popular Amazon Online Shop

I am basing my  purchase on Online because technology is the language of the day except nearness to the point of sale enables one to visit, these days even sales and supply of food is becoming rampant on the internet and early birds are cashing out on it.

Various types of these Big Book of Wisdom exist and I shall be highlighting them.  Keep up with me to the end.

 

Now there is something we have to take note of.  That no matter our different denominations in the world; or the different types of Bibles, no one can add, embellish or subtract to and from the life giving words of God or Christ as indicated in Revelation 22:18-19 which says “For I testify  unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, if any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book.  And If any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book”

So no matter the various types, the word of God cannot be altered.  The various sizes and formats are based on their different usage and for specific purposes and people hence the differences in types.

  • Audio Bibles:  This type enables you to listen to the word of God on Cassette, CDs, DVDs, or on MP3 format
  • Bible Software:  This type allows you to read and study the Bible on your Personal Computer, Mac Book, PDA and on your phones
  • Children Bibles:  This is specially designed with diagrams for the use of our young hearts (our children)
  • Church, Ministry and for Pastoral Interests:  We have so many types for these purposes especially those for  pastoral uses, Pastors need a comprehensive Bible to prepare for homiletic(sermon), we have gifts and Award Bibles, Certain ones for Outreach and  for Evangelism purposes.
  • Compact and Pocket Bibles:  These are smaller, take along pocket Bibles.  They can be placed in your backpack, brief case, your purse or wallet etc.  When going along they are readily available for easy access.
  • Devotional Bibles: These are also known as Specialty Bibles –  They contain additional devotional materials for specific issues of life, occasions, or peoples.  They offer a wide range of unique features such as: Parallel Bibles which put two or more translations side by side for comparison.  Also, you will find some Bibles that handles some specific groups of people for example, the Military Personnel or for special occassions.
  • Economical/Outreach Bibles:  These are inexpensive ones tha are used for outreach programs, evangelism and most times used a s mass give aways.
  • Family Bibles:  All Bibles carry large selection of Family Bibles most of which could be personalized to your taste for example: with your name, date of birth or other special messages and/or events.  Some also contain family records and special occasion pages for weddings and birth information of family members.
