DO YOU KNOW THAT THIS CAN SAVE YOU FROM UNFORESEEN CIRCUMSTANCES, FINANCIAL BURDEN AS WELL AS YOUR LIFE?  LET’S TAKE A LOOK AT A RESTING HEART RATE:

Join me as we derive some wisdom on health issues with particular reference to the topic –  Resting Heart Rate.  Do you know that wisdom can be gotten in so many ways?  Well, in a bid to get wisdom one must be willing to study or read extensively.    As a result of this, I have set up myself to reading as to get the desired wisdom so sought.

Before delving into this topic, let’s first define what a Resting Heart Rate is.  A Resting Heart Rate is seen as a number of times the heart beats in a minute while at rest.  This could be used to indicate one’s basic fitness level.

What are the effects on the Heart rate?

The heart rate could be effected by varieties of factors namely:

  • Temperature
  • Body position
  • Activities involved in
  • Your emotions
  • The time of the day; etc.

The above mentioned factors could affect your heart rate.

When is it convenient  to take measurement of  one’s  heart rate?

The convenient time is : –  first thing in the morning while still in bed.  But if up already, then allow yourself some rest say sitting for  at least 5 minutes before taking the measurement if not visit your physician who knows what to do.

How do you measure your heart rate:

This is done by checking your pulse.  What is Pulse then?

Pulse is the rate at which your heart beats.  This is also called heart rate.  It is the number of times your heart beats each minute.  Symbol used is bpm which means “beats per minute”.

How do you measure your maximum heart rate:

This can be estimated by subtracting your age  from 220.

Although there exist a wide range of normal resting heart rate, an unusually high or low heart rate may indicate problem .  Anything more than 100 bpm  and lower than a 60 bpm consistently;  with the exception of active bodies and athletes who have their heart rates at beats per minutes below 60 –   due to their continuous nature of activities, please do not hesitate to consult your doctor who should take a thorough examination of your whole body.

I believe that those in fitness are always checking their heart rates before and after their exercises.  For example, your heart rate should beat at 50 – 69% during a moderate intense activity while during a vigorous intense activity it should go up to say 70 – 90% of the maximum rate.

Different Ways to Check our Pulse When Not Visiting the Hospitals/Clinics:

These are done in different ways as stated below:

  1.  From your fingers:  place your index and third fingers on your neck to the side of your windpipe and you will feel your pulse.  Count the number of times it beats in 15 seconds and multiply that with 4 to calculate the beats per minute.
  2. At Your wrist:  Place two fingers between the bones and the tendon over your radial artery – this  radial artery can be located on the thumb side of your wrist and when you feel the pulse, count as above  method and you get the beats per minute.

As already stated, the normal heart rate for adults ranges from 60 – 100 beats per minute.  Hence when it is lower that 60 bpm, it is considered efficient use of the heart which is exceptionally approved for those who tirelessly put their body to so much work,  other than that check yourself by consulting your doctor as to avert what could be serious as shown below:

Conclusion:

Get wisdom and get understanding and apply this to your life, you never can tell how much it will save your life and that of others.  Be blessed and take adequate measure in checking your health issues. A stitch in time they say saves nine.

Save your life today by checking yourself regularly.  It saved mine.   I couldn’t have known what could have happened by now.  But God in His infinite wisdom gave us the understanding to visit the doctor who took the right initiatives  by  sending me for several check-ups and boom it came out that some deadly problem was hiding some where in the body.  And on close examination, it was immediately identified and arrested or contained in which I am a living testimony to the Glory of God today.  That will be for another day and time.
